Casa Fotografia Andrade is a tribute to a lineage of photographers who, for over 120 years, dedicated their work to Tavira. Since the late 19th century, members of the Andrade family, such as José Damasceno de Andrade and, later, Apolinário Cândido de Andrade, began this journey. Their legacy consists of a vast archive of images documenting the city's daily life, its urban, rural, and riverside landscapes, as well as the social and economic evolution of its people.
Inside Casa Fotografia Andrade, visitors will find an exhibition that allows for a true journey through the history of photography. On display are not only images revealing the pulse of Tavira and its inhabitants over time, but also a significant collection of cameras and other accessories, from the art's beginnings to more modern equipment. It is possible to observe the profound changes in the world of photography, from the slowness of its first steps to its most recent evolution.
