Cais P (Pier P) is strategically situated on the waterfront of Lagos, in the area known as Bairro Operário (Workers' Quarter). This location offers a unique perspective on the area, combining the tranquility of the water with the proximity of the urban environment. Its position allows for the observation of movement at the mouth of the Ribeira de Bensafrim, providing a calm and accessible environment for those strolling through the city.

Memory and Redevelopment

This pier boasts a history dating back to ancient times, having been in past eras a crucial access point to the walled city. Known by different names throughout the centuries, such as Cais da Ribeira (Riverside Pier) or Cais da Alfândega (Customs Pier), it functioned as an antechamber, through doors integrated into the old 16th-century wall, allowing circulation and connection between land and sea.

In the 1940s, this area was reclaimed to make way for the construction of an avenue. However, as part of an urban redevelopment program for the waterfront, its legacy was rediscovered and integrated, becoming visible once again and an integral part of Lagos's coastal landscape.
