Once, it was flanked by Lagos' 16th-century walls, with two important gates that regulated circulation between the city's interior and the waterfront. Its presence is a testament to Lagos' deep connection with the sea and its port activity throughout history.

A Look at Transformation

The area where Cais N is located today underwent major transformations. In the 1940s, the area was landfilled to allow for the construction of Avenida da Guiné, causing the original quay to become hidden. However, as part of an urban revitalization program for the waterfront, this historical element was rediscovered and integrated into Lagos' contemporary landscape. Currently, it is possible to observe the remains of the old quay, which now stands as an integral part of the city's modernization, inviting reflection on the layers of time that shape the urban space.
