Location

The Commercial Quay is located in the city of Faro, in the area known as Horta da Areia. Its position, by the waterfront, offers a wide perspective over the Ria Formosa and the surrounding natural landscape, with its channels and barrier islands.

It is an area that marks the transition between the urban fabric and the waterfront, revealing the city's strong connection to its estuary.

Maritime Past

This quay, approximately two hundred metres long, was for many years a central point of Faro's port and commercial activity. It was the gateway for various products from the Algarve, such as cement, stone, carob, or tuna, which were exported to various international destinations. Its infrastructure, which included warehouses and cranes, was fundamental for the movement of goods, highlighting the port's importance for the regional economy.
