Situated in the municipality of Aljezur, this small cove is located within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. The surrounding cliffs offer a backdrop of ochre rock, below which extends a relatively narrow sandy area.
The sea faces predominantly west, providing an unobstructed view of the Atlantic and allowing for the observation of sunset lights in an almost untouched natural environment.
The stretch of sand is fine and shows variations in tone depending on the tide. The rocky formations near the water create small natural pools, where marine life can be observed, including small fish and seaweed. On calm days, the clear water invites free diving, although strong waves are felt with some regularity.
The vegetation on the cliffs includes rockroses and strawberry trees, complemented by low-growing plants adapted to the saline environment. The contrast between the green of the plants and the light brown of the cliffs accentuates the wild character of the place.
Access is via a steep trail carved into the escarpment. It is advisable to wear sturdy footwear, given the presence of loose stones and sections with a steep incline. Visitors should remain extra vigilant on the slipperiest parts.
The sandy area is fully exposed only at low tide, becoming reduced when the sea level rises. With no support facilities, this beach retains a silent atmosphere, allowing for moments of contemplation without background noise.
