The Ermida de Nossa Senhora do Pilar is located in Algoz, in the municipality of Silves.
Classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1993.
The building consists of a nave, chancel, and a small sacristy, following the Baroque style of the 17th century, although earlier constructions existed.
The hermitage is dedicated to the patron saint of the parish of Algoz, Nossa Senhora do Pilar (Our Lady of the Pillar).
Unfortunately, the building currently faces serious problems of degradation, despite the community's efforts through the group "Friends of the Ermida de Nossa Senhora do Pilar", created in 2016.
According to legend, the image of Nossa Senhora (Our Lady) appeared on the site where the hermitage is currently located. The population tried to take it to the main church, but it mysteriously returned to the original location. In response to this phenomenon, the population built the hermitage to receive and venerate the image of Nossa Senhora do Pilar in the appropriate place.
