"A Quinta" is located in the Covada area, within the parish of Luz de Tavira and Santo Estêvão, in the municipality of Tavira. This site is situated in the heart of the Algarvian barrocal, a region that serves as a transition between the hills and the coast. Its location offers a deeply rural and peaceful environment, characterized by authentic countryside landscapes, ideal for those seeking a serene connection with nature. It is a place where one can appreciate the quietude and natural beauty of the Algarvian interior.
This eighteen-hectare property has its roots in the 18th century, standing as a remarkable example of the region's traditional architecture and agricultural practices. Over time, essential ancient structures for the quinta's life have been preserved and restored, such as the olive oil lagar (mill), the adega (wine cellar) for wine production, the two large eiras (threshing floors) where cereals were threshed, and the unique casa da palma (palm house). The landscape is dominated by dryland trees, such as carob, almond, olive, and fig trees, which not only mark the site's agricultural history but also contribute to its aesthetic and atmosphere.
At "A Quinta", the relationship with the environment is a priority, with a strong focus on sustainability and the appreciation of nature. The place encourages a "back to the land" approach, where circular economy principles are practiced, and the water cycle is a central element. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the countryside in a playful way through activities that allow genuine interaction with the natural space, such as discovering elements or observing a treehouse. As night falls, the sky of the Algarvian barrocal offers a spectacular display of stars, inviting contemplation and relaxation under the celestial vault.
The experience at "A Quinta" also encompasses the region's culinary traditions, highlighting the use of fresh, locally harvested products according to their season. The cuisine is based on the Mediterranean diet, with dishes prepared to enhance authentic flavors. Traditional methods, such as using a wood-fired oven, and ingredients like the quinta's own olive oil and aromatic herbs from the barrocal, enrich the palate. The location provides direct contact with these traditions, allowing, for example, participation in a bread-making workshop, which may include carob flour, a characteristic product of the Algarve.
