The Estremoz Bullring is integrated into the city's urban area, positioned near the ancient walls and the historically known area of Portas de Santa Catarina. This location allows for easy access for those exploring the city and its surroundings on foot.
This building boasts a long history, having been inaugurated in 1904. For over a century, the Estremoz Bullring witnessed various events related to the bullfighting tradition. After a period of being disused, it underwent a restoration and requalification project, reopening its doors to the public in 2013.
The construction features a classical architectural style that aligns with the traditional design. Its structure is based on a circular plan, characteristic of this type of building. Inside, it has stands and galleries that rise around the central arena, offering seating for a considerable number of people, approximately 4,144 spectators.
Following its rehabilitation, the Bullring was adapted to function as a multi-purpose venue. While it continues to host bullfighting events, keeping this tradition alive at certain times of the year, the building is prepared to accommodate other diverse cultural activities and initiatives, integrating itself into the social and cultural life of Estremoz.
