Part of the Solar System to Scale

Uranus is part of a unique model of the Solar System built to real scale, spread across several parishes in the municipality of Estremoz.

Precise Location

It is located next to the playground of the village of São Lourenço de Mamporcão, near the Day Care Center and Rua General Humberto Delgado.

Planet Representation

It is represented by a blue sphere installed on a tall metal pole, visible in the surrounding area.

Science Alive Center Initiative

This educational and tourist project was developed by the Estremoz Science Alive Center and is the only strictly scaled model on the Iberian Peninsula.

Proportional Size and Distance

All planets and their positions were placed taking into account their real proportions and distances relative to the Sun, represented in the center of the city of Estremoz.

Walk Through the Universe

The route between the planets can be done by bicycle or on foot, and is a recommended experience for all ages. It is also a different way to explore the parishes and the Alentejo landscape.

Next Stop

After visiting Uranus, you can continue the route to Neptune, located in São Bento do Cortiço, following the route indicated by a rural road.
