- Founded in the 16th century by André de Villalobos e Vasconcelos, a knight of the Order of Avis and holder of the Carvalhal estate.
- The original construction began with the tower, a symbol of seigniorial power, which has three partially vaulted floors and elements of the Manueline-Mudéjar style of the Alentejo region, including chamfered merlons at the top.
- In 1569, Nicolau de Castro da Cunha, the new owner, hired the stonemason Diogo Velho to build the residence adjacent to the tower.
- Currently, the tower is in a state of ruin.
