Mourão River Beach is located in the Alqueva Reservoir, in the area known as Bairro Doutor Baltazar Rebelo de Sousa. This particular spot is situated on a kind of artificial island, connected to the shore by a walkway, which gives it a unique setting. From here, the landscape over the large lake is vast and inviting. It is a privileged spot to watch the sunset and, after dark, enjoy the night visibility.
The sandy area extends for about 320 meters, offering plenty of space for those looking to relax by the water. During the bathing season, a portion of this sandy area, approximately 100 meters, is supervised. The reservoir's water is suitable for swimming and provides a refreshing dip. There are floating structures in the water, such as a children's pool, and a platform with a diving tower, a ladder to facilitate bathers' access, and a slide, adding aquatic leisure options.
In addition to the sandy area, the beach features an extensive grassy area, equipped with sun umbrellas that create shaded spots for relaxation. For those who prefer to dine outdoors, there is a picnic area nearby. An important aspect is the attention to accessibility: the beach was designed so that everyone can enjoy the space, featuring ramps for water access and an amphibious chair, making it accessible to people with reduced mobility.
