Mourão River Beach is located next to the vast Alqueva reservoir, within the Tapada da Picota area, in the municipality of Mourão. Its location on the shore of the large lake provides a tranquil environment and a wide landscape over the body of water.
The beach is designed to appear to emerge from the water, connected to the land by a walkway, creating a distinctive visual point of interest in the local landscape.
The bathing area features an extensive sandy area, approximately 320 meters long, ideal for visitors to settle in and enjoy the sun. Complementing the sand, there is a vast grassy area equipped with parasols, providing shaded zones for those who prefer a more sheltered rest from the heat.
To enhance the bathing and leisure experience, the river beach features various floating structures directly on the reservoir. These include a floating pool designed with children in mind, ensuring a safe space for them to play in the water. There is also a floating platform equipped with a diving tower, a slide, and stairs, inviting fun and facilitating direct access to the water for all bathers.
The beach was designed to be inclusive, featuring accessibility for people with reduced mobility. These include a ramp that facilitates access to the bathing area and support equipment for entering the water. The site also has a designated picnic area, restrooms, and showers, providing essential amenities for visitors' comfort during their stay at the beach.
The waters where Mourão River Beach is located are part of the Alqueva reservoir. They are characterized by their good quality and, during the bathing season, reach inviting temperatures for prolonged swims. The water presents suitable and safe conditions for swimming, being regularly monitored to ensure its suitability for bathing use.
