Located in the town of Pavia, in the municipality of Mora, the Clock Tower stands out as a central and easily visible landmark. Its presence is striking in its surroundings, serving as an important element at the heart of this community and a reference point for those exploring the area.
Pavia Clock Tower is a building with deep historical roots, dating back to the 16th century. This building once housed the old Town Hall, serving as the administrative seat. Although the exact date of its construction is uncertain, it is known to have existed around the period when Mora received its Manueline Charter, in 1519, establishing a symbolic and historical link with the beginnings of the municipality's administrative organization.
Throughout the centuries, the Clock Tower has undergone various transformations. Inside, it once housed a library, established in 1910 by José Agostinho Sousa and Maria Feio. Recently, the building underwent careful refurbishment, which sought to preserve its typical regional exterior design, while the interior was modernized. This approach allows the tower to continue serving the community, adapted to the needs of current times, maintaining its status as an emblematic building of great importance to local identity.
