The Oriola River Beach is located in the village of Oriola, in the municipality of Portel, within the district of Évora. Situated in the Bairro da Cabrita area, its position next to the Monte da Rocha Reservoir gives it a unique setting, where the serenity of the water harmonizes with the surrounding Alentejo landscape.
This space offers unobstructed views of the reservoir, promoting a calm atmosphere. Its design aimed for natural and harmonious integration into the local landscape.
The beach was conceived as a place for leisure and appreciation of the natural environment. Human intervention in its creation focused on enhancing the scenic characteristics of the reservoir. To achieve this, the terrain was carefully modeled, and the bathing area was covered with sand, creating a shoreline conducive to refreshment.
The project included the cleaning and preparation of the submerged area, ensuring its proper use for water activities. The existing green spaces in the area are maintained through an irrigation system, contributing to a fresh atmosphere, suitable for moments of tranquility by the water.
With a focus on the comfort and safety of visitors, the Oriola River Beach features a support building with essential facilities. This includes a post dedicated to lifeguards, a medical post for emergencies, and adapted sanitary facilities for everyone, including people with reduced mobility, as well as showers.
Circulation within the space is facilitated by wooden pedestrian pathways, designated as decks, which are complemented by gravel-paved areas. These routes were designed for fluid and accessible use, from arrival to the bathing area, ensuring practicality and ease of access to the location.
