It stands in the São Pedro Neighborhood, on the south bank of the Almansor river, in a flat clearing beneath the slope of Montemor-o-Novo castle. The proximity of EN 2 allows for easy identification of the chapel, marked by a stone cruzeiro that defines the churchyard.
Of medieval origin and rebuilt in 1511 with Manueline features, it acquired its current form between the late 16th and early 17th centuries, in the Plain Style of architecture. It features a frontal galilee, a single nave, and a quadrangular chancel covered by a polyribbed vault. The bell tower, with a simple opening, crowns the white facade highlighted by blue painted arches.
Inside, there is preserved a remarkable cycle of 16th and 17th-century frescoes. Above the triumphal arch appear grotesques framing the Annunciation and the depiction of the Eternal Father, while the side walls and the nave display Christological scenes executed in the early 17th century.
The surrounding open space offers wide views over the Almansor valley and the southern slope of the castle. The rural serenity and the warm late afternoon light enhance the plaster textures, providing good photo opportunities and a moment of peaceful contemplation.
