Located on Monte do Barrocal, in Nossa Senhora da Tourega, Évora, Anta 1 do Barrocal is a dolmen from the Neo-Chalcolithic/Chalcolithic period.
It has a chamber composed of seven vertical pillars and a large covering slab.
The corridor that led to the chamber is partially damaged, with only two surviving pillars.
Anta 1 is easily accessible from the main road and is located in a tranquil natural environment.
There are no visible traces of the tumulus that originally covered the dolmen.
Near Anta 1, Anta 2 can also be visited, presenting similar characteristics, such as a preserved covering slab.
In total, there are nine identified dolmens in the area near Monte do Barrocal, forming a complex of great archaeological importance.
It is recommended to visit during the day to better enjoy the natural light and explore the architectural details of the dolmen.
