The Lagar Museum is located in the town of Borba, integrated into the urban area known as Matriz. Its position allows visitors to the town to discover the space, framed within the fabric of the local community.
This museum originated from an old olive mill (lagar), a place where olives were once transformed into olive oil. It represents an important testament to the deep tradition of olive oil production in the Borba region. The space honors an activity that, for centuries, played a central role in the economy and daily life of the local people, reflecting the legacy of generations dedicated to this work.
Inside the Lagar Museum, it is possible to observe up close the original machinery and tools used in olive oil production at the beginning of the 20th century. Each piece tells a part of the history of how olive oil was extracted and processed. Complementing the visit, a set of photographic records illustrates the activity, showing the people, the processes, and the ambiance of a time when the olive mill (lagar) was the heart of olive transformation.
