The Vendas Novas Public Garden is located in a central area of the city, situated in the Bairro Doutor Luis Manuel da Silva Viana de Sá neighborhood. Its location is strategic, with direct access from National Road 4, a road that crosses the locality and connects Vendas Novas to other regions of the country.
Inaugurated in November 1993, this green space occupies an area of approximately four hectares, which, in the past, was the site of two agricultural farms. When conceived, the garden project integrated and preserved various elements of its rural origin. It is still possible to observe orchards, imposing cork oaks, holm oaks, and palm trees that bear witness to this history. Traditional hydraulic exploitation structures, such as old wells, tanks, and irrigation channels, were also maintained and incorporated into the landscape.
The presence of water is a striking feature of this garden, lending it a serene and dynamic atmosphere. Highlights include a water mirror and a large lake that harmoniously integrate with the extensive lawns. Two main axes structure the garden, with paths that invite a tranquil exploration. It is possible to walk along a courtyard flanked by an orange grove, or follow an undulating circuit that reveals the various nooks of the space.
The Vendas Novas Public Garden offers various amenities for visitors. It has an outdoor amphitheater, an ideal space for events. For the younger ones, there is a renovated children's area with various equipment. It also features a rink for roller skating and skateboarding, and a circuit designed for wellness activities and physical exercise. Additionally, visitors can appreciate a permanent exhibition of sculptures by Master Hélder Batista, an artist native to Vendas Novas, which are distributed throughout the garden.
Considered one of the green hearts of Vendas Novas, this garden is a sought-after place for moments of relaxation. It offers a natural refuge to enjoy sunny days or mild summer nights. The diversity of environments and its natural and cultural characteristics invite a tranquil stroll and contact with the outdoors.
