Situated in the village of Mora, the Mother Church, also known as the Church of Our Lady of Grace, is integrated into its urban fabric. Its presence marks the central space of the locality, reflecting its role in the life of the community and offering a point of reference for visitors to the village.
The original construction of the Mother Church of Mora dates back to the year 1570, marking the beginning of a long history. Dedicated to Our Lady of Grace, who is its patroness, the building reflects an architecture that combines 16th-century features, characteristic of its founding period, with neoclassical influences, resulting from subsequent interventions that shaped its current appearance.
Inside the church, one of the prominent elements is the baptismal font, whose origin dates back to the late 16th century. Outside, the arrangement of the bell tower is a singular aspect. Located next to the chancel of the building, this architectural peculiarity is the origin of a curious nickname given to the inhabitants of Mora, who are affectionately known as "beetles".
Over the centuries, the Mother Church of Mora has been the subject of several interventions that contributed to its conservation and adaptation. Notable are the works carried out in 1845, promoted by the Confraternity of the Rosary, and the interior repairs that took place in 1969. These actions allowed the building to maintain its relevance and beauty through time.
