The Furadouro Weir is located in the municipality of Mora, built on the Raia Stream. Its location is accessible from National Road 251, situated at the exit of the town of Mora towards Couço. This point marks a meeting of the Alentejo rural landscape with the watercourse.

Origin and Function

Built in 1959, the Furadouro Weir's main motivation was the management of water resources from the Raia Stream. Its primary function was to direct and channel the captured water to the Sorraia Canal. This infrastructure is an integral part of the system that regulates flows to supply irrigation canals essential for agriculture in the Sorraia Valley, maintaining this fundamental role to this day.

Beyond its original purpose linked to irrigation, the Furadouro Weir offers a space that invites leisure.
