The church is located in the parish of Évora Monte, in the municipality of Estremoz, in the district of Évora.
The church has a rich history, dating back to the 14th century, with significant modifications in the 15th and 16th centuries, including the addition of a new main chapel after an earthquake in 1531.
The church's facade is a mixture of styles, with Baroque elements dating from 1567-68 and a portico that combines the original Gothic style with Mannerist features.
The interior of the church maintains medieval Gothic features, including three naves with granite pillars and arches. The altars date from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Highlights include a 17th-century oil panel in the main chapel, representing the Holy Trinity, and a painting on the main altar dedicated to Saint Peter. In addition, there are two 17th-century wooden images: the Virgin with the child Jesus and Saint Anthony of Lisbon.
On the church's facade, a surprising element is Solomon's Seal, also known as the Star of David, which is more common in Jewish buildings. This detail adds a unique touch to the facade.
The church was classified as a Property of Public Interest in 2003, ensuring its preservation as part of the national heritage.
Near the church, you can find an old cemetery where medieval stelae were discovered, some of which are on display at the Prof. Joaquim Vermelho Municipal Museum.
