The Jardim dos Colegiais is located in the heart of Évora, situated within the urban area encompassing the parishes of São Mamede, Sé, São Pedro, and Santo Antão. Its central position in this Alentejo city provides easy access, being well integrated into the historic urban fabric, yet maintaining an atmosphere of seclusion and tranquility. Memory and History:

This garden, also known as Largo dos Colegiais (Collegiate Square), owes its name to its proximity to prominent former educational institutions, such as the Colégio do Espírito Santo and the Seminary, marking its connection to the city's academic past. For many centuries, this land was owned by the Melo family, the current Dukes of Cadaval. It was precisely in this area that the medieval wall, built between the 14th and 15th centuries, connected with Évora's ancient Roman and Muslim fortifications. After D. Jaime Álvares de Melo donated this space to the municipality in the mid-20th century, the garden was reorganized, becoming part of an urban renewal project that marked Évora at the time.
