A Historical Legacy

This place is marked by its tower, which constitutes an architectural highlight of Monte das Vidigueiras. Built between the late 15th and early 16th centuries, its construction testifies to the social assertion of noble families of the time in Alentejo. It was common for rising lineages to commission the construction of towers on their properties, not only as residences but also as symbols of prestige and their elevated social status. This old stately home is now recognized as a Property of Public Interest.

Striking Architecture

The original structure of the main building of Monte das Vidigueiras reveals a square-plan tower with three floors. On the ground floor, a pointed arch portal stands out, and the upper floors are lit by large rectangular windows. The top of the tower is crowned by a series of merlons, elements that give it a unique character. Over time, the complex underwent transformations, including the addition of a pavilion and other single-story constructions, adjoined to the tower, which were adapted to the Romantic taste, marking the different eras of occupation and remodelling of the space.
