Erected on slightly elevated ground on Rua da Igreja, in Sebal Grande, this parish is set in a tranquil rural environment. The square, paved with traditional Portuguese cobblestones and accessible by a stairway, defines the space around the temple.

Facing the surrounding fields, the main façade offers an open perspective over the agricultural landscape, while the adjacent cemetery provides a unique setting for the complex.

Historical Value

First referenced in 1250, the current construction incorporates vestiges from the 16th to 18th centuries. The inscription on the processional cross from 1604 and the 16th-century panels with figures attest to the long tradition of worship in this place.

Classified as a Monument of Public Interest, the church stands as a testament to the artistic and religious evolution in Condeixa-a-Nova, retaining various inscriptions and details that narrate the phases of intervention throughout the centuries.

Architectural Elements

Of longitudinal plan and single nave, it presents a simple façade highlighted by pilasters and a portal with an interrupted curved pediment, above which are a quadrilobed oculus and a discreet cornice culminating in a cross at the apex.

The bell tower, attached to the chancel, rises in Ançã stone masonry and culminates in a spire roof. Inside, the wooden coffered ceiling contrasts with the polychrome tile wainscoting, while the gilded and polychrome altarpiece dominates the chancel, flanked by the high-backed stalls of the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Sacrament.
