UC Exploratório is located in the Lages area, in Coimbra, positioned on the left bank of the Mondego River. It is integrated into the Mondego Green Park, a wide and pleasant area that offers a more open and tranquil environment. Its location allows for serene contact with the surrounding nature, distinguishing itself from the denser atmosphere of the city's historic center.

Interactive Experiences

The Exploratório offers a variety of routes and proposals with a strong practical and experimental component. Among its attractions, the Hemispherium stands out, a projection room with a dome that provides a 360-degree cinematic immersion, transporting visitors to different realities. Exhibitions, such as "Viral, A Contagious Exhibition," address current and relevant scientific themes, stimulating reflection. There is also "CriaAtividade," a space designed for active exploration by children and young people, which also challenges adults. The experience can be enriched by visiting "Sair da Casca," an area dedicated to the hatching of chicks, and the scientific photography galleries, which present fascinating images of the natural and technological world.

The Pioneering Legacy

UC Exploratório has a remarkable history, being the first interactive science center to emerge in Portugal, in 1995. Its creation established a solid link with the University of Coimbra, reinforcing its role as a hub for the dissemination of knowledge. This center is part of the National Network of Ciência Viva Centers, consolidating its importance in the country's network of scientific culture spaces. In 2008, the definitive building it now occupies was inaugurated, allowing for the continuous evolution of its activities and programs over almost three decades of existence.
