The Panda Lookout is situated at the top of Picoto dos Barbados, one of the highest points in the city of Coimbra. Its unique location offers a comprehensive perspective of the surrounding landscape, extending from east to west. This spot is integrated into a natural trail that establishes a harmonious connection between the urban area of Coimbra and the Vale de Canas National Forest. It presents itself as a space where the appreciation of nature and the practice of physical activity are constant elements, inviting passersby to observe the union between the dense vegetation of the forest and the vastness of the horizon.

Design and Architectural Elements

Inaugurated in February 2020, the Panda Lookout was designed with particular attention to its integration into the landscape and the well-being of its visitors. Its structure incorporates a pergola, designed to offer natural shade, and is embellished with climbing vegetation, which contributes to a cooler and more inviting environment, especially on hotter days. It is also distinguished by the presence of a semi-transparent metal railing, which ensures an unobstructed view of the surrounding area without introducing visual obstacles.

Along this structure, there are strategically placed benches oriented towards the wide landscape, inviting rest and observation. The lighting system was carefully planned to enhance the beauty of the space at nightfall, with low-intensity lights integrated into the horizontal beams near the railing and a lighting system that follows the pergola's design, creating a serene atmosphere.
