PO.RO.S is located on Avenida dos Bombeiros Voluntários, in Condeixa-a-Nova. The building occupies the former manor house of the Quinta de São Tomé, next to a lawn and a public park where the murmur of water invites a tranquil pause.

This space is situated in an area that combines the historical character of the town with well-maintained green areas. The surroundings offer serene views, ideal for stretching your legs before or after your visit, enjoying the tranquility by the Bruscos stream.

Architecture and Atmosphere

Housed in a 19th-century building classified as a Municipal Heritage Site, the museum retains original elements of the manor house, such as stone walls and solid wood doors. The rehabilitation project preserved the main structure, adapting the various compartments to contemporary museography.

The combination of traditional construction and multimedia equipment creates a subtle contrast: in a space that evokes the past, projections, ambient sound, and carefully studied lighting transport the visitor to the time of the Romans in Sicó.

Roman Heritage and Experience

The exhibition route is divided into thematic rooms that analyze aspects such as political organisation, daily life, and the military expansion of the Empire. Through panels, models, and 3D projections, discover how Conímbriga became a Romanised centre at the edge of the Empire.

Replicas of everyday objects, from a glass toaster to a legionary's armour, allow for a tangible experience of the weight of the utensils and an understanding of habits that persist today. This sensory focus reinforces the link between the Roman past and the region's cultural memory.
