The Serra da Lousã Biological Park is located in Miranda do Corvo, in the Montoiro area. It is situated on the slopes of the Serra da Lousã, benefiting from the natural landscape of this mountainous region, while maintaining proximity to the village.
A significant part of the Park, totaling five visitable hectares out of the twelve it occupies, is dedicated to representing Portuguese fauna. It is possible to observe various animal species that inhabit or have inhabited the national territory, from predators such as wolves, lynxes, or birds of prey, to herbivores like deer or roe deer. The park also hosts animals like wild boars and commemorates the historical presence of the brown bear in Portugal.
The path through the wildlife area winds among native trees of the Portuguese forest, such as chestnut trees and oaks, providing an environment that mirrors the natural habitats of these species.
Beyond the natural component, the Biological Park dedicates space to local and regional culture and traditions. The Living Museum of Traditional Arts and Crafts presents aspects of past life and work, allowing contact with ancient knowledge and ways of doing that marked the region.
The Coopery Museum, in turn, focuses on the art of making barrels and other wooden containers, an activity of historical importance in Portugal, particularly linked to wine and olive oil production. These spaces offer a glimpse into the intangible heritage of the mountain range and the municipality.
The Biological Park also offers other spaces that enrich the visit and provide varied experiences. The Pedagogical Farm allows for a closer approach to traditional domestic animals, ideal for more direct contact. There is also a Fruit Tree Labyrinth and a Rose Garden, inviting a different walk through their flowery and aromatic paths.
The Equestrian Center is another facility present on site, dedicated to equestrian activities. At a higher point within the property, one finds the Universalist Ecumenical Temple, a space for reflection that stands out for its architecture and the panoramic view it offers of the surrounding mountainous landscape.
