A Building with Memory

The building housing the Municipal Museum has a remarkable trajectory, being an example of civil public architecture from the late 18th century. In the past, this site functioned as the Town Hall and Prison, playing crucial roles in the community's administration and justice throughout the centuries.

After the Town Hall moved to new facilities in 1982, the building underwent careful adaptation to house the museum collection, being inaugurated as a Museum in 1996. A subsequent revitalization further enhanced this space, which is itself considered an object of historical interest.

The Municipal Museum's collection is predominantly ethnographic in nature, gathering a vast collection of objects that tell the story and experiences of the communities of Pampilhosa da Serra.
