The Eira Pedrinha Ethnographic Museum is located in the village of Eira Pedrinha, in the municipality of Condeixa-a-Nova. This locality is characterized by a deep connection to the rural environment and a landscape where the abundance of water, originating from its numerous springs, has shaped agricultural practices over the centuries. Although urban evolution is observed, the oldest core of the village retains its charm and an atmosphere that harks back to a life more connected to the land and its traditions.
This museum was born from the dedication of the Eira Pedrinha Folkloric and Ethnographic Group, a group founded in 1983 with the purpose of preserving and disseminating the history, uses, and customs of its community. The museum serves as a guardian of this memory, reflecting the group's commitment to documenting and sharing the experiences and popular culture of the region. It is a space where the effort to safeguard intangible heritage is materialized.
In the museum's collection, visitors will find a collection of objects and tools that tell the story of the daily life of the people from the Coimbra region and Serra de Sicó, between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exhibition illustrates a life of simplicity, strongly linked to agricultural activities and religious practices. It is possible to observe a variety of costumes representing different moments and social classes of the era: from work clothes in the field and those of vendors, to outfits worn during pilgrimages and on Sundays, not forgetting the costumes of newlyweds and wealthier farmers, as well as those of children. Traditional dances, with their predominantly circle choreographies guided by the voice of the caller, are also evoked, showcasing the rhythm and spirit of those communities.
