The Arganil Ethnographic Museum is located in the town of the same name, in the heart of the municipality of Arganil. Specifically, it is situated in the area known as Mourão, an urban zone within the locality.
This museum presents a collection dedicated to the ethnography of the region. Its collection seeks to portray and showcase the traditional way of life of the people who inhabited and shaped this territory over time. By exploring the exhibitions, it is possible to gain a perspective on the customs, crafts, and daily life of other eras, understanding what life was like before the most recent transformations.
In addition to the ethnographic core, the museum also houses a collection of pieces that bear witness to the area's more remote history. The archaeological collection covers a vast period, from the Paleolithic era to the Roman period. The Arganil region is particularly rich in vestiges from these ancient periods. Many of the exhibited pieces resulted from archaeological excavation work carried out in the vicinity of the town, underscoring the deep connection between the museum and the surrounding territory.
