Location

Located in Leirosa, in the municipality of Figueira da Foz, the forest is part of an extensive area of wooded dunes that stretch to the mouth of the Mondego River.

The forest covers 872 hectares, mostly occupied by maritime pines, and also some acacias.

History

Created in the 19th century to stabilize the dunes, the forest is managed by forestry entities and has been cared for and preserved ever since.
