The São Pedro Chapel features a rectangular layout with a simple structure, with masses arranged horizontally.
The chapel's roof is gabled, giving the building a traditional appearance.
The main facade has decorative details, such as a central portal with pilasters and marked plinths, topped by a decorative fountain with foliage, scallops and putti.
Corinthian capitals, prismatic urns with fogachos, triangular pediment, cartouche, cross and pyramidal crowns are some of the highlighted architectural elements.
There is a rectangular window on the south side of the chapel, allowing light to enter the nave.
The interior of the chapel has a single nave, with a wooden ceiling and three altarpieces.
The Nossa Senhora da Alegria Chapel is located in the parish of Almalaguês, in the Municipality of Coimbra, Portugal.
This chapel is part of a set of 17th-century buildings, dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Alegria, found throughout the country.
Since 2011, the chapel has been classified as a Monument of Public Interest.
The construction of the chapel was started by order of the parish priest Teodósio de Abreu in 1634, according to a Latin inscription engraved on the pulpit.
The chapel has a longitudinal layout with a single nave, chancel and sacristy on the left side. Highlights include the chalice-shaped pulpit, the gilded carvings on the chancel altarpiece, and the main facade ornamented with a triangular pediment and a barred window.
Inside the chapel, it is possible to find several ex-voto offerings, including paintings, wax figures and chains (shackles) with a curious legend.
About 300 meters east of the chapel, there are Roman ruins that were discovered in 2011 during the construction of the new IP (road), providing a unique archaeological experience for visitors.
