A Space Dedicated to Art

Galeria Sete constitutes a cultural space dedicated to contemporary art in the city of Coimbra. It regularly hosts exhibitions showcasing a diversity of artistic expressions, such as painting, sculpture, photography, drawings, and collages. The space features different exhibition areas, including a lower floor that houses part of the collection. The gallery serves as a platform for promoting the work of artists, both established names and new talents.

Origin and Philosophy

Galeria Sete is the result of the vision of Eduardo and Paulo Rosa, who founded it approximately eighteen years ago. Eduardo Rosa, with a remarkable background in art collecting and trading spanning several decades, was a central figure in its creation. The underlying philosophy of the space is to bring contemporary art closer to the public while simultaneously offering support to artists, facilitating the promotion and circulation of their works.

The 'Pocket Art' Concept

One of Galeria Sete's pillars and a distinctive concept it developed is the annual 'Arte de Bolso' (Pocket Art) exhibition. Inspired by pocket books, which offer quality content in a practical and accessible format, this initiative brings together small-sized works from a wide selection of artists, many of whom are national. The proposal is simple: to make original art available to a wider audience, encouraging initial collecting and allowing artists to sell their production and earn income to continue creating. The gallery fosters a welcoming atmosphere, where visitors are encouraged to simply appreciate the works and discover those that spark their greatest interest, regardless of prior knowledge about art.
