The Rescue of Community Memory

This space was born from the dedicated and voluntary efforts of the local community, reflecting a deep desire to preserve and share the rich collective memory of the village and its surroundings. It is a living testament to the resilience and initiative of a population that knew how to value its roots. Currently, its management is entrusted to the Liga de Melhoramentos de Carvalho, ensuring the continuity of its cultural mission.

A Journey Through Traditional Rural Life

Housed in a carefully restored old stone dwelling, maintained in its authenticity, the museum is divided into two distinct exhibition areas. Here, the visitor is invited to journey through time, discovering the daily life of yesteryear. The collection is vast and diverse, including objects that marked everyday life, from agricultural and domestic utensils to old clothing, unique toys, and musical instruments.

Recreations and Documentary Legacy

The space surprises with faithful recreations of typical environments of a traditional house, such as the kitchen, bedroom, and living room, allowing an immersion into the way of life of the past. One of the central points of the visit is the recreation of an old classroom, complete with the furniture and school materials used in remote times. In addition to the objects, the museum houses a valuable documentary archive, with historical records dating back to the 13th century, offering a unique perspective on the evolution of the region and its people. This collection provides a deep understanding of Portuguese rural traditions and culture.
