The House of Culture and Recreation is located in Torrozelas, a small village nestled in the Serra do Açor. The village rises to approximately 600 meters in altitude, and its position on a high point provides an unobstructed view of the surrounding valleys. This building is part of the tranquil mountain environment of the locality of Arganil.
The construction of the House of Culture and Recreation represented a notable collective effort on the part of the Torrozelas community. This initiative arose from the desire to equip the village with its own space for social gathering and culture, demonstrating the determination of its inhabitants to improve local living conditions and strengthen social bonds.
The first steps towards the realization of this project were taken in October 1972, with the acquisition of the land designated for its construction. After years of dedication and work, the building's construction was completed in 1981. The House of Culture and Recreation was conceived to be a center for social dynamism, a place where the community could gather and develop its activities.
The House of Culture and Recreation building features diverse functionality. On the ground floor, it has a party hall, equipped with a stage and bar, and sanitary facilities, ideal for hosting events and celebrations. On the upper floor, there are two apartments that complement the structure, allowing for greater versatility in the use of the space for the benefit of the Torrozelas community.
