Penedo Furado River Beach is located in the Penedo Furado area, in the village of Milreu, municipality of Vila de Rei. This site is set within a natural landscape characterized by a mountainous and hilly environment, where pine forests and rock formations predominate, contributing to a serene setting integrated with nature.
Characterized by a rocky framework and abundant tree cover, Penedo Furado River Beach stands out for its clear and crystalline waters. The water flows gently through the riverbed, through a natural passage in the rock, creating small waterfalls visible in the immediate landscape. The shallow depth of the water makes this space particularly suitable for family leisure. Water quality has been consistently rated as Good or Excellent in recent years.
The beach's name is inspired by a remarkable large rock formation, the Penedo Furado, which rises in the surrounding area and features a natural funnel-shaped opening. This geological element gives the place a unique identity. Nearby, on the right bank of the stream, there is a fascinating geological element known as the "Bicha Pintada". This is a fossil that, according to some studies, dates back more than 480 million years, embedded in a quartzite layer. In addition to its natural and geological features, the site is enveloped in tales and legends passed down through generations, enriching the history of Penedo Furado and its surroundings.
