Zaboeira River Beach is located on the banks of the Castelo de Bode Reservoir, next to the village of Zaboeira, in the municipality of Vila de Rei. Its position offers direct access to the water, framed by a natural landscape that includes hills and dense vegetation. From the beach, it is possible to observe the surroundings and the typical village of Zaboeira.
This bathing area benefits from the vastness of the Castelo de Bode Reservoir, with its waters originating from the Zêzere River. The water quality is recognized, making it suitable for diving and summer swimming. The surroundings of the beach are characterized by dense and pleasant tree cover, with pine-covered hills framing the landscape, creating a natural setting for leisure.
Zaboeira River Beach features an artificial platform that gives rise to a floating pool, designed for adults and children to enjoy the calm waters of the reservoir. In addition to the swimming area, the site offers a suitable zone for small boats, encouraging less demanding nautical activities. It is a place where visitors are encouraged to take care of their own safety, as the beach is not supervised, and the presence of animals in the bathing area is not permitted.
The existence of this river beach is intrinsically linked to the Castelo de Bode Reservoir, a vast water reserve whose construction dates back to the 1950s. This undertaking, part of a water resource utilization policy of the time, transformed the landscape and created the conditions for the development of leisure spaces such as Zaboeira River Beach.
