This museum space is located within the premises of the Covilhã Cooperative Winery. The Winery is situated in the Quinta das Poldras area, part of the Covilhã and Canhoso urbanisation, within Covilhã city itself. It is a place that allows visitors to experience the environment of a working winery, even though the museum focuses on the past of the local winemaking activity.
The Museum Room brings together a collection of artefacts that bear witness to the evolution of wine production practices in the region. Visitors can observe old pieces, including small laboratory and winemaking equipment that have been used since the Cooperative Winery's foundation in 1954. These pieces illustrate the transition from more traditional methods to cooperative techniques.
The space not only exhibits past equipment but also tells the story of the Covilhã Cooperative Winery itself and the wines produced here. It is possible to see a collection of all wine brands created by the Winery since its foundation. The presence of awards and accolades won in national and international competitions is also part of the collection, highlighting the recognition of wine quality over time.
Beyond the smaller pieces displayed in the room, the museum is integrated into the Winery's facilities, allowing visitors to understand a bit of the architectural and functional context of production. The old winemaking area, for example, reveals the presence of Algerian amphorae that were used in the process, as well as the original storage tanks, elements that offer an authentic glimpse into the environment of a traditional winery.
