Located in Salvaterra do Extremo, in the square in front of the Town Hall.
Classified as a Property of Public Interest since 1933.
Possibly erected in 1510, during the granting of the second charter by King Manuel I.
Represents a remarkable example of Manueline art.
Composed of a column supported on an orthogonal plinth with three steps.
The octagonal capital is decorated with buttons and rosettes.
The top is topped by a pyramid adorned with half spheres.
On the faces of the finial are represented the national arms, the armillary sphere and the Cross of Malta.
Refers to the historical and administrative importance of the region during the reign of King Manuel I.
