Goldra Park is situated in the urban area of Goldra, in the city of the Covilhã. Its position allows for a pedestrian connection to the lower part of the city, functioning as a passage point between the University of Beira Interior and the Mártir-in-Colo Amphitheater. A nearby staircase offers an alternative pedestrian access, facilitating circulation in the urban environment.

Integrated into the city fabric, the park offers a setting that combines natural landscape with urbanization, creating a transition space in the city's route.

Space Design

This park was conceived as a large, multifunctional outdoor leisure space. Its origin dates back to the old conventual enclosure grounds of the extinct convent of São Francisco, which gives it a connection to local history. The project included the creation of extensive green areas, with pedestrian paths that invite strolls and moments of tranquility.

The park's design integrated elements such as water features, areas for relaxation and sports, and play equipment, such as a large-scale chess set and sculptural elements. Its landscape architecture foresees the distribution of the space across three distinct platforms, interconnected by a pedestrian path, with visual pieces that unify the area.

Environment and Purpose

Goldra Park was designed to be a place for socializing and recreation, capable of hosting various urban and leisure activities. Its ample green areas and paths offer a conducive environment for peaceful walks and enjoying the outdoors, even within an urban context.

Elements such as water features and rest areas were designed to create a relaxing and appealing environment, encouraging lingering and interaction. The existence of a natural amphitheater highlights its suitability for cultural events, providing an open-air stage for various performances. The trees contribute to a cooler environment and air quality, enhancing the park experience.
