Human presence in the lands of Fratel dates back to very ancient periods, with a vast and diverse legacy. The museum highlights the rich rock art engraved on the banks of the Tagus, with Fratel recognized as one of the main centers of this type of artistic manifestation, featuring hundreds of engraved rocks on the river's right bank. Additionally, marks of other prehistoric constructions, such as dolmens, are presented. This heritage illustrates the deep connection of communities to the territory over millennia, including the beginnings of river and land transport systems and hydroelectric exploitation.
Inside the Museum Center, it is possible to deepen one's knowledge about the daily lives of Fratel's rural community. The space highlights the main economic activities that shaped local life, with a special focus on flax cultivation and olive oil production, which have always played a central role.
