The Historic Manor House

Housed in a prominent building, the Canteiro Museum occupies the space of the former Solar dos Goulões, later known as Solar Ulisses Pardal. This imposing manor house is, in itself, a testament to the art of stonemasonry, showcasing a remarkable construction. Its structure and stone details, which earned it the classification as a Property of Public Interest in 2002, illustrate local mastery. The manor house also had a direct connection to an annexed chapel, today known as São Brás, where the residents of the house attended religious ceremonies.

The museum's permanent exhibition focuses on Alcains' deep connection with stone, particularly granite. Through a well-defined pathway, visitors understand the techniques and instruments that, over time, allowed this raw material to be transformed into elaborate stonework pieces.
