The Orvalho Viewpoint is strategically situated on Cabeço do Mosqueiro, an elevation that is part of the Janeiro de Cima area, in the municipality of Fundão. Positioned at an altitude of 627 meters, this privileged observation point offers a comprehensive view of the surrounding landscape.
From the Orvalho Viewpoint, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view that extends over vast areas of the region. To the north, the gaze reaches the imposing Serra do Açor, as well as the localities of Janeiro de Baixo and Janeiro de Cima. Turning to the northeast, the grandeur of Serra da Estrela can be seen. To the east, the landscape is marked by the Orvalho area, while to the southeast, Cabeço da Rainha rises. To the west, Serra de Alvelos dominates, and to the northwest, Serra da Lousã and the Zêzere River valley complete the horizon.
The Orvalho Viewpoint was designed to provide a pleasant experience for its visitors. On site, there is a picnic park, an inviting space to enjoy a light meal outdoors. For families, there is a playground, offering a place for children to play and have fun. For everyone's convenience, the viewpoint has restrooms.
This viewpoint also serves as a point for appreciating the region's natural heritage. Here, visitors can find information about the Naturtejo Geopark, a territory recognized for its geological and landscape richness. Additionally, the viewpoint is integrated into the PR3 OLR, Orvalho GeoRoute trail, providing a direct link to a path that allows for in-depth exploration of the area's unique geodiversity.
