The Miradouro de São Gens is located in the São Gens area, in Castelo Branco, in an elevated position that dominates a significant part of the city. This observation point is close to the historic centre and the old castle, being one of the terraces that crown the hillside where the urban fabric develops. Access to the viewpoint involves an uphill journey, rewarded by the landscape that unfolds with every step.

The Comprehensive View:

From the Miradouro de São Gens, the perspective over Castelo Branco is vast and encompassing. It is possible to contemplate a large part of the city's historic area, with its characteristic rooftops and buildings, and also the green expanse of the urban park. The gaze reaches a broad horizon, encompassing the São Águeda Dam and the southern slopes of the Serra da Gardunha. On clear days, the landscape extends further, revealing the imposing Serra da Estrela and, in certain directions, reaching the border line.

A Meeting and Rest Point:

Inaugurated in 1941, this space was originally conceived with a practical purpose: to camouflage the tanks that ensured the city's water supply. However, over the years and with recent rehabilitation interventions, it has transformed into a public place for socialising and serenity. Today, the Miradouro de São Gens offers multiple shaded nooks, with inviting benches for rest. The presence of a small lake contributes to the pleasant and tranquil atmosphere, making this viewpoint a delightful spot for a break and to appreciate the surrounding landscape.
