The Green Park of Arts and Crafts is located in the Arrabalde area, in the town of Vinhais. This space, integrated into a lush green area, is situated near some of the town's sports facilities, offering a tranquil and accessible environment. Its location allows visitors to enjoy a relaxing stroll within the village.
This park is a representation of Trás-os-Montes' rural past. The space was conceived as an open-air museum, where various constructions and exhibits, arranged in small nuclei, illustrate aspects of life and work from bygone eras. It is a place designed to showcase the heritage and knowledge of generations, inviting a leisurely exploration of local traditions.
As visitors walk through the park, they discover elements depicting the region's essential production cycles. It is possible to observe aspects related to iron transformation, the wool process, and the production of bread, wine, and olive oil. Furthermore, there is the cabanal, a traditional animal shelter, an old kitchen that evokes domestic life, the threshing floor where cereal was threshed, and references to the Jogo dos Paus (Stick Game), a cultural practice demonstrating strength and dexterity. These recreations allow for an understanding of the techniques and routines of field work.
The park invites visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of yesteryear, transporting them to a period when evenings, after a day of labor, were filled with songs, prayers, legends, and narratives. This environment seeks to evoke the stories and traditions shared around the fireplace, offering a perspective on the intangible heritage and cultural identity of the Trás-os-Montes region.
