The Heritage of the Territory

This cultural space is the successor to the former Museum of Territory and Memory, previously housed in the Casa da Cadeia. Inaugurated in August 2015, the museum preserves and displays a valuable ethnographic, archaeological, and geological collection, which tells the profound history of the Freixo de Espada à Cinta region. It represents a continuity in the valorization of local heritage.

The Uniqueness of Artisanal Silk

Freixo de Espada à Cinta stands out as the only place in the Iberian Peninsula where silk is still worked entirely by artisanal methods. The museum dedicates a significant part of its space to this secular tradition, explaining the complete process of silk production, from cocoon to thread.
