The Mother Church of Sendim is located in a central area of the town, in Largo da Igreja. It is integrated into the residential area of the village, serving as a landmark in Sendim's urban fabric and playing an important role in the community and religious life of its inhabitants.
Built in the mid-18th century, in 1759, the church exhibits striking features of the Baroque and Rococo styles. Its main façade is particularly noteworthy for the richness of its decoration. The entrance portal deserves attention, topped by a pediment with a triangular and curved profile, a distinctive element of the period. Upon entering, visitors will find an interior with a vaulted ceiling.
As the mother church, this temple plays a central role in the life of Sendim. It is the main place of worship and community gathering, dedicated to Saint Barbara, the patron saint of the church. Its presence reflects the history and religious traditions of the local population throughout the centuries.
