The Cultural Center Solar dos Condes de Vinhais is located in the Arrabalde area, in Vinhais, in the municipality of the same name. It is situated on Rua Simão Costa Pessoa, near Rua dos Frades, integrating into the town's urban fabric and inviting discovery of its heritage.

A Historical and Architectural Legacy

This cultural center is housed in an old manor house that once served as the residence of the Counts of Vinhais. Dating back to the 18th century, the building was known as «Casas Novas» (New Houses) and belonged to the notable Costa e Pessoa family. Its historical relevance and the value of its architecture are recognized by its classification as a Property of Public Interest. In 2013, the manor underwent a careful restoration, adapting it for its current functions as a cultural center and municipal library.

Cultural and Artistic Hub

As a Cultural Center and Municipal Library, the Solar dos Condes de Vinhais offers visitors a diverse program. The space regularly hosts various temporary exhibitions, contributing to the region's cultural dynamism. In addition to a library, it also provides a space with internet access. The building also includes a chapel and a theater, enriching the range of cultural activities and events available.

The António Palolo Collection

One of the most interesting points for those visiting the Manor is the Painted Room, Jorge Lima Barreto. It is in this space that a permanent collection of works by António Palolo can be appreciated. This exhibition allows visitors to engage with part of the work of this significant contemporary Portuguese artist, providing a unique perspective on his artistic creation.
