History

- The site was likely built during the Iron Age and underwent restructuring over time.

- During the Roman occupation of the Iberian Peninsula, it was inhabited by Roman colonists.

- In the 18th century, the religious temple existing in the Castro was transferred to the main village, replacing an old chapel that housed a baptismal font and preserved the Blessed Sacrament.

- The Sacóias Castro has been a National Monument since 1910 and is also recognized as a structure of municipal interest by the council of Bragança.
